December 29, 2014

Hey there everyone!!! How are y'all?? I sure hope everyone had a great Christmas!!!

Transfers have come and gone and I'm now with a new companion! Her name is Sister Stagg, shes from Utah and has been out for 4 1/2 months, so this is the first time I've had a companion that's been out shorter than me.. But I'm really excited, this area is a great area and I'm excited to show Sister Stagg around and am super excited to learn new things from her.
I will miss Sister Orr though! She was lots of fun to serve with, and I learned lots of things from her. Basically I just love learning, and learning from other people. Super duper awesome!!

But like I said this week was pretty great! Lots of miracles!

Monday we had a pretty awesome miracle! Sister Orr and I have been calling people in our area book to try and see if people might be interested in a Christmas message. Well, there is this one guy that told us that we could come and visit him sometime after the Holiday's, but we haven't been able to meet with him... ANYWAYS! Sister Orr and I went into a store that night to get some hot chocolate and guess what! This guy comes up to us and asks if we're the missionaries that he's been talking to on the phone and guess what! We are! So we were able to meet this man, and talk to him for a few minutes. Miracle? I THINK YES! :D

Tuesday we went Christmas caroling with the other missionaries serving here in Hesperia, and guess what! We went caroling to Marlees grandparents, and long story short.. MARLEE IS GOING TO GET BAPTIZED!!!!! Her Mom gave permission, and now she'll be baptized on January 31st, so I'm super duper excited. Plus, Christmas caroling is wonderful, so it was a win win situation! :)

Wednesday, Christmas Eve, we went and did some service for a family in the area! We basically just did some yard work, but it was lots of fun! I love service! :D Then later that night we went to a families house for dinner which was super duper awesome! So we get there and the wife wasn't home yet, but the husband needed to go and buy a few more things for dinner, but there was food in the oven, so he left while we watched the food.. And took care of his baby pit-bull.. Yup! You read that right! The puppy was so stinkin cute!! It was only about 6 weeks old, so we just held it in a blanket and watched dinner cook. It was quite fun. Plus dinner was delicious, so it all worked out!!

Thursday, CHRISTMAS!!! So, Christmas was pretty awesome!!! Christmas morning we got together with other missionaries in the area and went to a members house and had Christmas breakfast, while there we took pictures, the Elders (boy missionaries) sang a few songs, and really just enjoyed Christmas. After the party, I got to skype home!! It was pretty great being able to see my beautiful family! I just love them! Everyone is getting so big though. Its pretty weird.
But after skyping home, we went out to iHop for dinner, and visited a few people.

Not a whole lot happened the rest of the week, I ended up getting the flu, so I was in bed all day, but life is good!

I'm so thankful for this past year that I've had, its crazy to think about how much has happened, and how I've been on my mission for almost an entire year, but with that, I'm so thankful for Jesus Christ and being able to share with others the love he has for each of us. I love being able to be a representative of him. I know that all things are possible through Jesus Christ. I know that he lives and that he loves us. I'm excited to bring in this new year with the knowledge that I have of my Savior. As a missionary you set goals everyday, and you keep track of these goals, and sometimes it gets discouraging when you don't meet the goals you set, or when things don't go the way you want, but when that happens, I'm thankful for Jesus Christ, because I know that hes already felt everything that I feel, every pain, every struggle, everything, He has felt that. And as I continue to set goals, and as I bring in this new year and try to be a little bit better, I know that he will be there every step of the way.
If you think about it, if you try to be 1% better everyday, for 365 days, just thing about what you can become. Anyways, there is a short video that I would just invite each of y'all to watch, it just touches on new years, setting goals, and on Jesus Christ and how wonderful he is, I'll attach the link right here :) http://www.mormonchannel.org/video/mormon-messages?v=910930409001

As for the funny moment of the week, it actually happened this morning! So when we went to the mission office this morning to pick up Sister Stagg, so there are tons of missionaries there! So I see a friend of mine, and get all excited and sneak up behind her and give her a big hug! But guess what. Its not who I think it is. #awkward. So here I am, hugging someone that I don't know, I'm very good at making awkward situations though, but after I realized that this wasn't the person I thought she was, I start talking to her and find out that the stranger I was hugging is Sister Stagg! My new companion!!! So it all turned out to be okay, but for a minute, it was pretty awkward. Now we just laugh at our first moment of meeting each other. Haha! Good times!

Well y'all, I sure hope that y'all have a safe New year!!!! And a great one! Thank you so much to everyone that wished me a Merry Christmas, or sent me stuff!! I'm so thankful to have so many people in my life that I care about! I sure love y'all!!!

December 22, 2014

Merry Christmas y'all!!!! I sure hope y'all have had a great week!!! And also that y'all are staying healthy. There's a bug going around out there.. I think the bug is just the Grinch in disguise before he had a change of heart. So if you catch the bug, be sure to either squish it. Or set it free to the wild, never again to be seen by anyone.

If you couldn't tell, we had a couple of sick days this week, but other than that, this week was wonderful!!!!

We had a miracle this week!!! Marlee, or 10 year old investigator, her Mom gave us permission for Marlee to be baptized!!! YAYAYAYAY!!! But, the sad part is that it wont be until January.. Meaning Sister Orr wont be here for that. BUT shes going to be baptized! Miracle? I THINK YES!
Heavenly Father is just so kind a blesses us so very much.

We weren't able to meet with Phil this week, but we're praying that we can meet with him this next week! :)

This week we had our mission Christmas devotional, also known as our mission Christmas party, so all the missionaries that are serving up the hill (so half of the mission) got together and had a Christmas lunch that was delicious! Then we all went into the Chapel part of the church building, and we had a Christmas message.
After the message we all went into the gym and sang Christmas carols.
We also received some Christmas presents! There are a couple of congregations that got together and made beanie hats for all the missionaries, along with scarves! People are just so kind to us missionaries :)
President and Sister Hobbs also have a Christmas tradition to give their children their favorite box of cereal for Christmas, so they gave us all mini boxes of cereal.
I'm so thankful for having so many people that always give. I'm so blessed and so thankful to have so many wonderful blessings!

We also sang in church yesterday. That was a little bit frightening, but we did it!!! And we sounded good. So I think it was a win win situation!

Something I'm super thankful for this week is the Priesthood. The power and authority to act in Gods name. I have a testimony that God knows me, and knows what I need to hear, and I know that the same authority that Christ had when he was on this earth was restored to the earth today.
And I'm so thankful for that. I'm thankful for the comfort and peace and joy that this gospel brings.
I'm thankful for the Bible and the Book of Mormon.
I'm so thankful for the Love that my Heavenly Father has for me.
I'm so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and for everything hes done and continues to do for me.
I love my Savior so very much, and I know that his hand is outstretched to lift me up, and to help me when I have my trials.
I'm so thankful for so many things, and I hope y'all know that! No matter who you are, where you are so whatever it may be. I know that Christ lives and loves us.

As for the funny moment this week, we were at the Christmas devotional and here we are taking our pictures and stuff, when all the sudden, I'm looking at my pictures and I see I have a photo-bomb! Guess who it is? Sister Hobbs. Best mission presidents wife ever? I think yes!
Another funny moment? We were out tracting this week, and met this one lady that was hung over and started talking about how her head hurt a lot.. Long story short, this is when Sister Orr first started getting sick, and had a bad head ache and stuff.. So we walk away from the house and Sister Orr looks at me and goes "Sister Bond, I think I'm hung over." Which just made me laugh super hard. I don't know what I'm gonna do in a week when the transfer is over and Sister Orr goes home! D:

Speaking of transfers, they're coming up! And at the end of this transfer, I'll only have 5 transfers left. 5 TRANSFERS!!!! WHAAAAAAT?!?!?!?!?! Time goes by fast man! But I sure do love being out here, I'm so thankful to be a missionary :)

Welp, I sure hope y'all have a very Merry Christmas!!! I sure love all y'all!!! Have a great week!!

And for a Christmas present, I shall send you a picture from the Christmas devotional.. Its the one of Sister Hobbs photo-bombing.. I'll probably include another Christmas picture since I'm feeling giving! ;)

Love y'all!!!

Love,
Sister Bond

December 15, 2014

Well, this was an exciting week!! We had more rain!! YAY! Thankfully the roads in the area I'm serving in are paved, otherwise we'd have mud everywhere! Haha! But none the less, this week was a good, productive week.

We were able to visit with Phil and Tammy this week, and guess what! We were able to actually teach a lot during our lesson! WOOHOO!!!!! It was actually pretty great, we felt very accomplished afterwords, so that was a blessing!

Marlee is also doing well, we're hoping that she'll get baptized either this Saturday or next, we're just waiting on a couple things, and she'll be good to go!! It'll more than likely be next Saturday though. So hopefully all works out!

We also had exchanges this week, meaning I was in a different area for the day with a different companion, so the sister I was with was from Alabama, so we were able to talk about all the foods we miss, or the southern things from back home! It was lots of fun, plus at the end of the day, we felt like we needed to get some frozen yogurt, so we went, and ended up talking to the worker there for like 30 minutes. Blessing? I think yes!!

Its also been getting colder here, the mountains right next to us have snow on them! Real white fluffy snow. Everyone here is praying that it snows in Hesperia.. As for me.. I'm not quite sure  D: The cold here is super different from back home, its like its not as cold.. Its weird. So basically what I'm getting at is that I don't know what it'll do if it snows.  I think I'll probably just laugh and drink some hot chocolate.

This weekend there was a community Christmas music festival that we got to usher at! And it was the coolest thing ever. Lots of local schools and churches from the community came together and sang Christmas songs, there were several different groups performing, and then they had everyone sing a few songs together, it was so much fun!
And it made me super happy that it didn't matter what faith you were, but that we could all come together and worship Christ.
It was also super cool when we were there because I got to see a few people from Apple Valley!!! It was a great night.

Basically, I'm so thankful for this time of year that we can all come together and worship Christ, and that we're able to just love people a little bit more.
I'm so thankful for the people in this area, they're always trying to find ways to brighten our day! One family even bought us a little itty bitty Christmas tree.
I'm so thankful for kindness, how even though nobody is perfect, and I'm so far from perfect, that I'm able to serve others, and that others serve as well.
When Christ was upon the earth, he was always going about serving others, so it would only make sense that if we want to be like Christ, we need to serve! And I don't know about y'all, but I love service. I love being able to try and brighten someones day.
I know that I'm not perfect, and that I still make mistakes everyday, but I know I'm trying to follow the example of my Friend and Savior, Jesus Christ, and because he is always serving me and serving everyone around me, I want to do the same. I love Jesus Christ, and I'm so thankful to be able to have the Faith that I do.
I would just encourage all y'all to really take this time of year, and serve and give. I heard a quote once that said "You'll be a lot happier in life if you can focus on what you can give, and not on what you can get"...... How true is that? If you want to be happy, simply give! :D

And as for the funny moment this week? I have a couple!
So the first one is.. We were coming out of an appointment, and it was before the rain came, but it was SUPER windy. I thought I was going to blow away. But we're walking outside the house and to the car and all the sudden a TRASH BAG starts to chase us!!!!! This bag was full of tumble weeds from earlier that day. So here we are, in our skirts and jackets trying to run from the wind and a trash bag starts chasing us all the way to the car. I never thought I would be scared of a trash bag until that very moment! Once we got into the car we just laughed.
For the next funny moment of the week, we were on exchanges and the area I was in was almost all dirt roads, so we were in a truck, which I'm not super used to, but anyways! We came out of our appointment, and the family we were visiting decided to walk us out to our truck, and I kept trying to open the door, and I couldn't get in, the sister I was with had already unlocked the door but I couldn't seem to open the door, so I asked if she knew why the door wasn't opening, when all the sudden, the husband of the family that we were visiting who just happens to be a sheriff tells me "because that's MY car"..... AWKWARD! I was trying to get into the wrong car. It reminded me of the time I did that at walmart back home when I tried getting into the wrong car... It was super awkward, but once I got into the correct car, I just started laughing. It was great.
And last but not least, I had a typical Sister Bond moment, we were coming in and I saw a black animal outside our apartment and I was very confused, but the conversation goes like this:
Me: Sister Orr! Is that a skunk?!?!?!
Sister Orr: No Sister Bond.. That's a cat...
#whoknewcatscouldlooklikeskunks?
Good to know that I still have my moments!

Well, I sure love y'all!!! Keep being great! And have a very merry week!!!

Love y'all!!

Love,
Sister Bond

December 8, 2014

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas! Just pretend I started singing that to y'all.
Anyways! Hello everyone! I sure hope y'all had a good week! Ours was good. We had a miracle!
IT RAINED!!!! Legit, real rain! And it lasted the entire day! Goodness gracious, I was such a happy camper! Well, I wasn't really camping.. But you know what I'm trying to say!

Last Monday was pretty awesome, after we got done emailing we went to go have dinner  with a family in the ward, and we've been teaching their son, after dinner they asked us to help decorate their Christmas tree! It made me so happy! Plus, several of the decorations are ones that I have at home, or similar, it was very nice! The son that we've been teaching also told us that he makes rings out of quarters. Like, 25 cent quarter. So he told us if we brought him our state quarter he would make me a ring, luckily I didn't have to search too hard for a Georgia quarter because I had one in my wallet! So now I have a ring, made out of a Georgia quarter. Its actually super cool and I'm still super excited about it. Woot woot!

We also saw Blake and Bella, the kids that got baptized in November that are super adorable, we played football with them in their front yard before the lesson. Yup, I was in my skirt while playing! I've learned that you can do many things in a skirt! And playing football is one of them!

We didn't get to see Marlee this week, which was a little bit depressing, but we're taking steps for her to be baptized, so that's exciting! We're hoping for the 20th to be her baptism, so pray all goes well!!

Phil and Tammy are doing well, I'm still trying to master the art of speaking to talkative people. But I'm getting better! Yay!

We also had our ward Christmas party, which is where we sang the 12 days of Christmas while the Elders acted it out, lets just say it was the funniest thing ever. I have a video of it, but its too big to send, so I guess y'all will have to see it in 81/2 months! But everyone was yelling "encore!" when we finished. Lets just say, I felt pretty good about myself! ;) Haha, but really, it was so much fun!

We did more service this week, we laid more concrete for the path I was telling y'all about last week. So that was still fun. I just love doing service y'all. Its the best thing ever!

Something I'm thankful for this week is hope. I was reading a talk today titled "The Infinite power of hope" by  Dieter F. Uchtdorf, in which he talks about why we need hope, or why we have to have trials, and multiple things alone the line of having trials. But if we knew no sorrow, how can we know joy? We must experience trials to appreciate our blessings. But during these trials, we're never alone.  I have a quote from the talk I want to share with y'all. It says:
"The things we hope in sustain us during our daily walk. They uphold us through trials, temptations, and sorrow. Everyone has experienced discouragement and difficulty. Indeed, there are times when the darkness may seem unbearable. It is in these times that the divine principles of the restored gospel we hope in can uphold us and carry us until, once again, we walk in the light."   Y'all. I know that God is with us during our trials, that we're never alone. I know that even during the times in life where we feel alone, or feel like there is no hope, that there is indeed hope, that we can have hope and faith in Jesus Christ. I know that we're never alone, and that when we have hope, things may still be hard, BUT our burdens can be made better. Just like it says in Mathew 11:28-30:  Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. I know that when we turn to Christ, that he will be there for us. I love my Savior Jesus Christ.

Now, as for the funny moment of the week, it was more of an "awwwww" moment, but I figured it would fit. But we were at our dinner appointment, so we were at a families house, and they had their 4 year old grandson visiting with them, we were waiting for dinner to be ready and there wasn't anything we could do to help, so we were looking at the pictures hanging on the wall, when all the sudden I feel someone hugging my legs! So I look town and I see this little boy hugging me, and he looks up and says "I like the way you look" and runs away.
It made my night! Kids are the cutest. I just love them!

Anyways, I sure hope y'all have a great week!!! I love y'all!!
Love, Sister Bond

December 1, 2014

Hello everyone! I sure hope y'all had a great Thanksgiving! And that y'all ate lots of food. Food is always a good thing!

This week was good though! I'm starting to get to know the area more, and the people that are here, and it's great! I hit my hump mark this week, and it's CRAZY how fast time flies!!! Its super scary at the same time! I truly love being a missionary, and am SO thankful to be out here serving The Lord, and serving Gods children!

Our Thanksgiving was good, we ate with a young couple in the area and their in-laws, so it was a house full of family! We had lots of food, it was nice, at the end of our meal we all sat in a circle with a glass of Apple Cider and we all talked about what we were thankful for. It was so great to be apart of a families Thanksgiving tradition! It sure made me feel all special!

We're still trying to teach Marlee, and Phil and Tammy.
Marlee is good, we've been trying to get her to come to our ward (congregation) so she can get baptized, she's been going to a different ward, so it's all a little bit crazy right now.

Phil and Tammy are also doing well! I'm trying to master my skills of talking to talkative people, but sometimes its just hard to get a word in.. But I'm so thankful to be teaching such wonderful people!!

We also did some service this week! YAY! We helped lay down a concrete walk way! We set them as stones so this guy can walk in his yard so he doesn't have to walk in dirt all the time!
It was seriously so much fun, who knew I would learn how to mix and lay concrete while on my mission? And guess what! I got to put my initials in the stones! Super duper fun! :D

I don't remember if I said last week or not but we'll be singing at the ward Christmas party which is this week, so we've been trying to practice for that..And guess what else! We've also been asked to sing in church the Sunday before Christmas. We don't know what we're singing yet, but I guess this ward sure does love when missionaries sing!

Speaking of Christmas, I'm so thankful for this time of year to reflect on the love I have for my Savior, and how grateful I am to be able to serve him.
I don't know if y'all have seen the new "He is the Gift" video, but I would invite everyone to watch it, it's just a short maybe 3 minute long video on how Christ truly is the reason for Christmas.
The link for the video is right here http://www.mormon.org/christmas
But in all honesty, I'm so thankful for my Savior, Jesus Christ, I'm thankful to know that through him I can be cleansed from my sins, I'm thankful to know that I never have to be alone, but that he went through everything I've experienced and continue to experience.
Christ is my best friend, and I'm thankful for that. I'm thankful to have this relationship with my Savior, and to know that I can overcome any trial that comes my way.
Having that relationship with him makes me want to become an even better person. We have on our wall a paper, and on it, it says "To become", underneath it, it has our goals of how we can become better, which is just a reminder to me that I don't have to be perfect now, because that's not possible, but what is possible is that I can become better. And that's only because of Jesus Christ. And I love being able to share that with others! These past 9 months have flown by fast, and I can only imagine how fast the next 9 months with fly. But in the mean time, I'm going to serve my best and truly try my best to help others, and to serve others as Christ has served me.

As for the funny moment of the week, like I said we were doing service, and so we were outside in the dirt, and there are these things called goat heads, and they're just these spikey little pokey round balls that are everywhere and really hurt when you step on them, or poke them. Well, we're all working and stuff when all the sudden, someone yells out "I have pokeys on my butt!" Rather loud.
Apparently he had sat down in the dirt right on the goat heads. We were all dying of laughter. It was great!

Well, I sure do love y'all!!!! I can't believe it's already December!
I hope y'all have a great week!!

Love,
Sister Bond

November 24, 2014

Happy Thanksgiving y'all!!!! Even though I'm a few days early, I wont have another chance to write until after Thanksgiving, but hopefully all will go well and y'all are all safe and eat lots and lots of food!

So since it's Thanksgiving this week I decided I should write about the things I'm thankful for from this week. Imagine that! :D BUT first things first!

1) I'm thankful to have a super cool companion! Sister Orr and I are pretty similar so we work well together.

2) I'm thankful to be in a super cool area! I do miss Apple Valley, but this area is pretty awesome so far! This week was mostly spent with my meeting everyone, there are a lot of elderly people in the area, which is pretty cool!

3) I'm thankful for our investigators! (The people that we're teaching)..... We have two that we're working with.
One is Marlee, she's 10 years old and is super duper cool!!! She wants to get baptized before Sister Orr leaves, so that should happen this transfer!
We're also teaching a man named Phil, his wife isn't very active in church, but we're able to teach both of them. Phil talks a lot, so its always interesting when we get to meet with him! But I'm super thankful to be here and to be able to teach people! It's awesome!!!!!

4) I'm thankful for Blake and Bella! They're two kids that just got baptized a month ago. They're pretty cool. Bella is the sweetest little girl ever, she's super hyper so there is never a dull moment. It's the best! We actually had dinner with their family yesterday and it was so much fun!

5) I'm so thankful to be able to serve a mission. Legit, it's the coolest thing ever!
This will be my first Holiday season away from home, and I'll get to spend it as a missionary.  I've been blessed with so many things, my life, my family, my clothes, food, chocolate, nutella, zumba.. SO many things! The list goes on and on! But how great is it that I get to spend my Thanksgiving and Christmas serving others. And being able to serve the one who gave me so many blessings!
I remember several years ago for Christmas my family wrote a note of something we could give the Savior for Christmas and putting that note in a little box, this week I was thinking about that, and how this year I want to do the same thing. I truly want to give all of my efforts to the Lord this season. I'm so blessed! I just want to serve others. I love being a missionary, I love being able to share the love I have for Jesus Christ with others.
I know with all my heart that Christ lives, and that he gives us so many blessings, and that when we serve others, we're only in the service of our God.

6) I'm thankful to have happiness! And for the little things that make me laugh everyday.
We were visiting Blake and Bella, and it was when I was first meeting them and I had told them that I'm from Georgia, and all the sudden Bella yells "talk Texan to me!" Now whenever I see her she asks me to speak "cowgirl" to her.
Life is good. Especially when you can speak cowgirl.
Another thing that makes me happy is when I see bags of sand (questionable?) on a roof and I think that they're turkeys. Legit, we were out knocking doors and I see these bags on a roof and immediately think that they're frozen turkeys.. I  think I'm excited for thanksgiving.

Anyways!!! I am so thankful for so many things!!! I hope y'all stay safe this Thanksgiving and remember all the things you're thankful for! Caution! When you start counting your blessings, you wont be able to stop! ;)

Love y'all!!! Have a great week!!

November 17, 2014

Greetings from Hesperia!! Or in other words, I got transferred! My new companion is Sister Orr, so far I don't know much about her other than this is her last 6 weeks on her mission, and she's from Idaho. But so far I like her!

I truly did love Apple Valley! There were so many people there that I simply loved, they were just so kind to me, and to everyone there, I will definitely want to visit Apple Valley again after my mission! So hopefully I love Hesperia just as much!

I'm not sure how much time I have here at this library, but this week was pretty legit!
We did service at the squash farm, so I got a snazzy squash4friends shirt! I'm super stoked about that!

We also had zone conference this week!! Yay! We had Elder Golden of the 70 come and speak to us. Meaning is was an amazing meeting!
Something he really focused on was the power and authority we have as missionaries.
Which is something I've been trying to study a lot lately, and legit. I love being a missionary.
I have been set apart for 18 months by the priesthood authority from God to represent his Son Jesus Christ, to be able to invite others to come unto Christ.
HOW COOL IS THAT?!?!?!??!?! And when else will I be able to say that? I think a lot of times I fall into the routine of being a missionary and just go through the motions, but this conference gave me lots of motivation to go out and serve! And let me tell you, I know that this is exactly where God wants me to be right now.
I know that God lives. I know that he sent his son Jesus Christ to the world because he loves the world, we are all Gods children, and as we turn to him, we will be blessed in so many ways!!! I love this gospel. I love being a missionary and being able to serve and spend time with such amazing people.

As for the funny moment of the week, we were in a lesson on Sunday and a member of the ward was talking about missionaries when all the sudden he says "Look at missionaries, when they've been out for 18 months, they have swagger!" Hahaha! I was dying.
#momentslikethismakemethankfultobeamissionary

Anyways, I sure love y'all and am so excited to be serving in this new area!!!
Keep being amazing!

Love,

Sister Bond

November 10, 2014

Greetings from the Sunny California! You know how I said last week was freezing? Yeah..... Not anymore! It's back to 80 degrees! I promise I'm not trying to rub it in, but I really do enjoy not freezing to death. Haha! Love y'all!!

Anyways, this week was pretty great! We're still trying to do more service, we weren't able to pick up trash on the side of the road this week, but we did do more service at the animal shelter and we've been helping a sister clean out her home.
Legit. Who would've thought that I would love serving others so much??? I just want to serve all day long. Good thing I'm a missionary! ;)

We're still trying to find people to teach, I love this area a whole lot though! We find out about transfers next week, so I have no idea if I'll still be here in Apple Valley or if I'll go someplace new. I've been having lots of dreams lately that I've been transferred... So I don't know! Who knows if that means anything or not, but I guess what I'm getting at is that I love Apple Valley! This will be an area that I want to visit after my mission because I love the people so much.
I think that that's one reason why I've been in this area, to be able to work with the members here, and to get them involved, member missionary work is really where its at! I'm seriously so thankful to be here, and to be on a mission! The Lord is so kind in sending me to a place that I love so much!

As I've been on my mission I've learned that the Lord puts you where you need to be.
We had a pretty cool experience this week!
We were finishing up our dinner, when we got a text from a strange number saying that M. needed us.
So we tried calling M. but no answer, we tried the number that texted us but we still couldn't get in contact with anyone. We both felt super strongly that we needed to go and stop by M.'s house, so as we're driving over I felt like we needed to get there as soon as possible, so we went over and knocked on the door.
M's mom came to the door (M. is a 15 year old girl by the way) and said that she would get M. and invited us in, she told us that M. was in the shower so it might be a few minutes.
So we came in and waited for a few minutes while she went and told M. that the missionaries were there.. A few minutes later M. comes out and gives both of us huge hugs and told us that she had been praying for help and was about to commit suicide, right when her Mom had knocked on her door telling her that we were here she was picking up a bottle of bleach to drink.
If we had been 5 minutes later, I have no idea of what would've happened... Well I do have an idea, and it would't of been pretty.
Why am I telling y'all this? Because it was just one example on how God answers prayers.
M. was praying and we felt so strongly to visit her. I KNOW that God sent us to visit M. That God answered this young girls prayer.
I know that he answers every prayer that we have, that God will send us to where we need to be.
It's a blessing to be a missionary and to be able to see miracles everyday.
Now, just to let you know, M. is fine now, and we're trying to get her help, the proper people know about her situation, so all will be well.

But legit. There are miracles everyday! Sometimes they're huge miracles like being in the right place at the right time, and other miracles are just as simple as not having pain in your feet for a few days. Miracles are everywhere.

I bare my testimony to each of y'all that I know that God lives, that he is mindful of us, that even though things get hard, that God still loves us, he isn't giving us trials because he wants to punish us, but because he loves us so much that he wants us to grow.
I'm thankful to have a loving Heavenly Father that cares about me, and that cares about everyone. No matter what.

Now, for the funny moment of the week.. So we were getting are tires checked on our car because they were being silly. Anyways we asked the man where to go and wait, and he told us to just wait by the car because it was only going to take a minute.
The conversation goes like this:
Us: Where should we wait?
Man: You can stand right out here! Unless the sun hurts you of course ;)
Us: -simple small talk-
Man: You have an accent! Where are you from?
Me: Really? Most people say I don't, but I'm from Georgia...
Man: Oh... Well I have some pizza in the back! You want me to bring you a pizza?
Me: Ummmm I just ate lunch, but thank you though!
Man: -now has a confused face staring intently at me- Well that's a bummer...
.... Now looking at the conversation it doesn't look sketchy, but standing outside of the car shop, and having an interesting man offer you pizza.. Seems a little sketch to me.. Anyways, it was the funniest thing, once we got back into our car I just laughed and laughed.
It's the little things that bring me happiness!

Well family, I sure love y'all and hope all is well!!! Always remember, if a sketchy man offers you pizza, say no.
Love y'all!!! Have a good week and stay warm!!!!

November 3, 2014

Hey y'all! I don't have whole lot of time today, but just know that this week was good! You know you're working hard when you come home and your feet are bleeding! ;) Haha, but for reals. People actually met with us this week!!

We had to drop Dawn this week, meaning that we'll visit her every now and then, but we wont be teaching her anymore, which is pretty sad.. BUT I can honestly say that I've done my best to help her, and I have faith that all will work out!

We were able to see a few less actives, so that was wonderful!! One of the families I had never met before, but we found out later that the Elders have been working with them.. So it's a no go to go back! D:

We've also been trying to do more walking, my knee is starting to get better so I don't have to limp anymore! It still starts to spazz a little bit.. BUT generally speaking, I can walk! YAY!

We also got to help a family decorate for Halloween! That was lots of fun, we made decorations, then hung them up.. I don't know how to explain them though.. But the ones I made were little balloon ghost that had cheese cloth covering them.. I dunno, but they were super cute! Who knew I would learn how to make crafts on my mission? Lots of fun!

We also got to voulnteer at the animal shelter! We haven't done that in a couple of weeks, so it was nice being able to do more service there! I got a snazzy animal shelter shirt and everything! ;)

Something I've been learning more and more since I've been here on a mission (which I hit my 8 month mark yesterday! CRAZY!!!!) is how much God is aware of his children! There were two sisters that we felt like we needed to see this week, and as we visited with them, we found out why.
Basically they're going through more trials than you can name. As we were visiting with them, I couldn't help but feel inadequate to help them, I didn't even know how to respond to them. Here I am, a 19 year old girl, trying to help these 30-40 year old sisters dealing with marital issues, baby issues, money issues, basically every kinda issue. BUT what I'm getting at is that I'm not the teacher, but the Spirit is.
God knows his children, and he knows what they need to hear. He knows how to help his children, he helps us because he loves us.
I don't even remember what I said when we were visiting with these sisters, and that's because I wasn't speaking, the spirit was. God was directing my words! Which is seriously the coolest feeling ever to be blessed with inspiration on how to serve these people.
God knows us, and he knows how to comfort us. I know I pretty much say that every time I email, but it's the truth!!!!! Plain and simple. God loves us. And every day I'm amazed by how much he loves me. How he will always love me.
He sent us to these people because he cares about them, and knew that they just needed someone to give them a hug and tell them that everything will be okay.
Because everything WILL be okay, if it's not okay in the end, it's not the end.
I'm thankful to be able to be an instrument in Gods hands, that I may only be 19, but God knows how to help 19 year olds to help others.
Every day is seriously a miracle.

As for the funny moment of the week, the other day we were driving delivering thank you cards, when all the sudden I have my second road kill. The first was a bird when I was in Ontario, and my second was a bunny. A cute little fluffy bunny. Yes, I did cry, which y'all know how much I dislike when I cry! And how much I love animals. Anyways, later that night Sister Richardson and I were talking about the dead bunny when all the sudden, the quote from Bambi came into my mind... "They call me thumper!" and all I could think about was how this bunny was a thumper! Horrible I know, but I couldn't stop laughing for about 5 minutes.  Even writing this makes me laugh!
...Then later that night we were driving with the windows down and a bug flew into my mouth.. Protein right? Wouldn't be the first time I've eaten bugs on my mission! But that story is for another day! ;)

I sure love y'all!!! Keep working hard! I didn't hear about any miracles that happened this week, but I know y'all are having them!!! Love y'all!!!

October 20, 2014

Hey there everyone!! How is everything going? From the emails I've received, it sounds like everyone is doing fun things for Fall!!

This week was pretty good! Heavenly Father sure is blessing us! He sees our efforts and is giving us miracles every day!

We've been doing lots of service since people haven't been wanting to meet with us, so this week we helped a sister paint her home, so that was lots of fun! We also helped a family clean out their trailer! And goodness gracious! Both of these families were so thankful! We hardly did anything, but just a little act of kindness brought each of us so much happiness! It was super great!! I seriously love service and being able to serve a mission!

We've also been taking cookies to more people in the area! So great!! It always just makes people happy to receive a plate of cookies! :)

We had interviews with President Hobbs this week, so that was super legit!! I'm so thankful for such a patient mission president to give me advice! He just listens to all of us missionaries, loves all of this missionaries, and prays for all of us missionaries! He and Sister Hobbs are such wonderful people!
AH. I just love them! And this mission.. You know.. Lots of things to love! :)

So. MIRACLE!!!!! You remember how last week I told you the story about the lady named Cherrie? She was a member referral that we visited? Anyways! SHE CAME TO CHURCH!!!!!!! SAY WHAT?!?!?!??!
We visited her this week with the member that had found a letter from her, just had a nice visit, we talked a little bit about what our beliefs are and left it at that.
Sunday morning we were getting ready to go to church when we get a phone call from Cherrie telling us how much she loved our visit and asked if she could join us at church!!! After we hung up the phone I was jumping up and down.
As far as she said, she enjoyed it! She kept commenting on things that she liked.
Apparently she knew a few members in the congregation because she went up to several people.
Everyone welcomed her! It was such a miracle.
I'm not sure where it will lead to, but I know with all my heart that Heavenly Father has a plan for this kind sister!

We also had exchanges this week, so I got to spend a day in Victorville! The area reminds me a little bit of when I was down the hill in Ontario. Just the structure of the homes!
But it was lots of fun! We actually had appointments!! Meaning I was actually able to teach! It felt so nice!
The people I met there were so humble! One sister was just going through a lot, tons of drama and divorce and just everything! I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her everything would work out! Because it will! Everything always finds a way of working out!
It made me very thankful to be in this ward though, I'm thankful for the people here! I dunno what I'll do when I get transferred! So far, I've been here just as long as I was in Ontario. Transfers aren't for another 3 weeks, so who knows what'll happen! But what I'm getting at is that I love Apple Valley!

This week I was reading a talk from this past General Conference,  the talk was titled "Living the gospel joyful" By Dieter F. Uchtordf, I would like to add something that stuck out to me so strongly! I copied and pasted this from LDS.org, I'll attach the link to the talk but for now, read these words, pray about these words, and ask if they are true! God Love us so very much! I  know that he loves us. Anyways, here it is.

"Whether you are 8 or 108, there is one thing that I hope you truly understand and know:
You are loved.
You are dear to your heavenly parents.
The infinite and eternal Creator of light and life knows you! He is mindful of you.
Yes, God loves you this very day and always.
He is not waiting to love you until you have overcome your weaknesses and bad habits. He loves you today with a full understanding of your struggles. He is aware that you reach up to Him in heartfelt and hopeful prayer. He knows of the times you have held onto the fading light and believed—even in the midst of growing darkness. He knows of your sufferings. He knows of your remorse for the times you have fallen short or failed. And still He loves you.
And God knows of your successes; though they may seem small to you, He acknowledges and cherishes each one of them. He loves you for extending yourself to others. He loves you for reaching out and helping others bear their heavy burdens—even when you are struggling with your own.
He knows everything about you. He sees you clearly—He knows you as you really are. And He loves you—today and always!
Do you suppose it matters to our Heavenly Father whether your makeup, clothes, hair, and nails are perfect? Do you think your value to Him changes based on how many followers you have on Instagram or Pinterest? Do you think He wants you to worry or get depressed if some un-friend or un-follow you on Facebook or Twitter? Do you think outward attractiveness, your dress size, or popularity make the slightest difference in your worth to the One who created the universe?
He loves you not only for who you are this very day but also for the person of glory and light you have the potential and the desire to become.
More than you could ever imagine, He wants you to achieve your destiny—to return to your heavenly home in honor."

Y'all, God loves us. I leave my testimony with you that God lives. That these words spoken are true, that Gods love will ALWAYS be there for you, and for me, that we can always pray to him, and we can always turn to him. He loves you. I love you as well, I'm nowhere near perfect, nor is my love for each of us, but Gods love is. Pray to him, please seek after him! I don't know where I would be without the love of my merciful Father in Heaven. Please search him out and see if he is there!
This morning people were supposed to go to the church for a zone activity, but only 3 companionship's showed up. And since my knee is still injured, I couldn't play so I sat by a tree and watched everyone throw balls at everyones head. I'm just sitting there when all the sudden they start playing dodgeball. And apparently people aim for heads because one after another, someone was getting hit in the head! It was the funniest sight to see!!

Well everyone, I hope that y'all keep being awesome!! Something that I've been doing is writing down three miracles a day, and it has helped me lots! So, I'm not asking you to write down three miracles a day, but I am asking you to find at least once miracle a day! And tell me about it! I LOVE hearing about y'alls miracles! SO. Send them to me!

I love y'all and hope y'all have a great week!!!!

Love,

October 13, 2014

Hey y'all!!! Hows everything back in Georgia? Are the trees gorgeous?
This week was good! It started out pretty rough, but it turned out to be a pretty good week!!
I'm not allowed to ride a bike for a while. I'm having knee issues again, but I'll be fine. Hopefully in the future I can be on a bike again!!
But guess what! We actually had a lesson with Dawn!!!! YAYAYAYAYAYAY!!!!!!!!! It was just a simple lesson on her front porch, but hey, we got to see her!! MIRACLE! I think yes!
She's still really flaky, and hard it get in contact with.. But we have a little contact, so it works!
We also started teaching a 7 year old that is preparing to be baptized, so that's a miracle! K. is an adorable active kid! It makes me miss teaching in primary though!
Its fun teaching K. because its helping me to remember to teach simply again! Plus it means we're at least teaching someone! MIRACLE!
We've also been trying something new! We've been taking cookies to less active members of the congregation! Who can say no to cookies?
We haven't taken them to a lot of people yet, but we tried it yesterday and another miracle happened!
We've been trying to visit this sister for a few weeks, but she's never let us in her home, so we baked her cookies and guess what! She let us in!! We were able to visit with her for just a few minutes and it was wonderful! Cookies make miracles yo! I'm excited to bake more cookies.. Part of it's because I enjoy taking cookies to people.. The other part of it's because I really like cookie dough! :D
We also did some painting this week! That was fun! We've been trying to do more service, so we were able to help a family paint their home this week! Lots of fun!

Oh! Y'all ready for a super cool miracle?
Okay, so a few weeks ago a member told us to visit her friend before she left on her mission, her name will be Cherrie. So us being you know.. Missionaries.. We went to go and visit Cherrie!
When we visited her, she was very polite, wasn't very interested in our message, but requested us to get the members address that had just left on her mission. So we did, and visited with her again, but this time invited her to come to church.  She said in the future she might take us up on the offer, but that she would let us know.
We told our ward mission leader (the man that basically watches over missionaries in the area) and he had told us that just a few days ago he found a letter written to him from Cherrie about 5 years ago. He has no idea how the letter came up, he just found it one day. Anyways, our ward mission leader said that he would love to visit with Cherrie because this was a very touching letter and he would like to visit with her.
So we called Cherrie up so we could tell her, and she was extremely excited to hear that we knew this man! So now we have another appointment to visit with Cherrie.
MIRACLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Heavenly Father truly works miracles! It was no coincidence that this man just happened to stumble across this letter.
I have faith that there are more miracles to come forth!   Heavenly Father is so kind to me!
Y'all, I KNOW that Heavenly Father answers prayers. It doesn't matter where you are, you could be on the bathroom floor, in your closet, in the car, or by your bedside. You can pray anytime and anywhere. I know with all my heart that God loves us so much to listen to our prayers.
The past few weeks have been pretty rough with one trial after another, and I KNOW that Heavenly Father heard every single prayer that I spoke to him! And that he continues to listen to my prayers! He's given me so much comfort, and so much hope, I know that God lives and listens. There is no prayer to small to speak to him. There is no prayer to crazy speak to him.
Any prayer, anywhere, he listens.
It comforts me to know that God loves me, but that he not only loves me, but he loves every single one of us. And he loves to hear from us more than we know.  I'm so thankful for prayer, God knows me, and I know that he listens.
Some days are just hard. And without prayer, they're harder. Prayer works. It is ALWAYS, always there for you. For me. For he, and for she, prayer is always there.
Now, with that, we had a pretty funny experience!
One day Sister Richardson and I just needed some frozen yogurt. So we were sitting in a pavilion after we got our froyo, and this man came up to me and asked where subway was. So I got up and pointed out directions for where he needed to go to get to subway. Anyways, he was very appreciative because before I knew it he gave me a big hug and a kiss on my head.
Me being me shook his hand and went back to eating my froyo. Eventually this man came out with his sandwich and thanked me again, and yes, he did give me another kiss on the head.
Sometimes I wonder if Elders (boy missionaries) have this problem. Haha, #sistermissionariestruggles
Anyways, it was hilarious after it happened!
Well everyone, I love y'all, I'm thankful to be a missionary, I'm thankful to be in this area, and I'm so thankful to be able to see so many miracles all around me!
I love y'all!!!
Have a great week!!!!!!!

October 6, 2014

Hello everyone!! This week was a bit better than last! Our car didn't get broken into, so its a great week when that doesn't happen! ;)
Anyways, this week was great! About four main things happened this week that was pretty great.

First, WE GOT TO SEE DAWN!!!! WOOHOO!!!!!! On Tuesday I had the thought to just shoot her a text, just telling her that we were thinking of her.. AND SHE RESPONDED! We've had close to zero contact with her for the past three weeks, and we finally got in contact with her! That night we were able to visit her!!! BLESSINGS!
Now I see that it was a prompting of the Spirit to text her. She has a lot of stuff going on in her life right now, but if I know anything, I know that the gospel of Jesus Christ can help in any circumstance!

Second, we got to see the new movie, Meet the Mormons!!!!! All the missionaries in the high desert were invited to a special zone conference where we all watched the movie. Goodness gracious! I would recommend everyone to see it! It's funny and informational! Plus motivational! So really, it's just awesome!

Third thing that was great about this week, BIKES! Really, I just love biking! The weather has been getting cooler and I just love it! People don't believe me when I tell them how much I love the bikes.. But I honestly do!!

Forth thing that was probably my favorite thing about this week, GENERAL CONFERENCE!!!!!! OHMYGOODNESS IT WAS AMAZING!
What general conference is, is twice a year there is a broadcast from Salt Lake City where our Prophet and Apostles give us direction from God.
As members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we believe to have a living prophet today that receives revelation from God on how to direct the church, just as when Christ was on the earth, he had 12 apostles, we also believe to have 12 apostles who help our Prophet lead out the church.
With general conference, we're able to hear from these people. What's great is that they aren't assigned a topic to speak on, they pray to God on what to speak about, and speak on what God reveals to them.
Something that I really got out of conference is, DON'T NEGLECT THE LITTLE THINGS!
Prayer, the sacrament, reading from the scriptures, truly having faith in Jesus Christ and his atonement, having faith and hope in better things to come.
These things will not take away our trials or our hard times, but when we use these tools- these gifts from God, we can stay afloat and above water.
God loves us, and wants us to return back to him, which is WHY he gives us these tools in the first place!
I'm SO thankful to have a prophet, I'm thankful to be able to receive personal revelation from God that these things are true.
I KNOW that God answers prayers, I KNOW that he loves us, we would live in such a sad world of God didn't answer his childrens prayers.
God is there for us, and if we sincerely seek him out, we will find him.
"Seek and you shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you."
With that, I would encourage and invite EACH of y'all to truly seek out God, even when you have a relationship with him, make it stronger. Who doesn't need strengthening? I'm pretty sure everyone does! Myself included!

Now for the funny moment of the week!
So we share the car right? Well we told the Elders (boy missionaries) to bring the car over at a certain time, well it was night time and Sister Richardson and I were making thank you cards when all the sudden, we hear the door to the back gate open... Then we hear things moving outside.
I was a bit jumpy when all the sudden we hear someone knocking on the door!
It was the Elders 20 minutes early, they decided to put the bikes in the back so we wouldn't have to.
It scared the jabeezers out of me! But it made me laugh pretty hard afterwords. It was pretty great!

Anyways, I love y'all so much!!! I hope y'all have a great week!

Love,

Sister Bond
