April 13, 2015

Hey there everyone! Do you remember how last week I said I was sick with the flu? Well, I'm on day 13. In other words, I'm still not better but will hopefully be getting some antibiotics so whatever I have will go away. But I was stuck inside all week because whenever I stand up I almost pass out. So to make this email more exciting I decided I will write my email as if it is a story. I hope you enjoy!

Once upon a time in a land far away from home there was a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. This missionary is serving in a place called Hesperia California, also known as the land of the Joshua trees and homeless people.
One day this missionary came down with the flu! And she wasn't getting any better, so she had to stay in her apartment all week. There was one day where she went to a missionary meeting and gave a training with her companion, but almost passed out while giving it. But she was thankful for the opportunities that she has had to learn from the Spirit, even though she doesn't remember a lot from this week, she was still thankful for all the people that have been taking care of her while shes been sick.
To keep herself busy and from not falling over because of the dizziness, she studied a lot! But couldn't study too much because again, she would get dizzy. When she wasn't dizzy she watched as her companion studied and listened to the things she learned, or she watched as her companion rearranged the apartment! Now their beds and dressers are in the other room! This missionary thinks that the apartment looks great now.
The time that these two missionaries weren't studying or when the sick one wasn't sleeping, they played the magnificent game of skip-bo! These missionaries are becoming very pro at card games.
One day the sick sister was craving pizza, so they even ordered pizza and played card games!

During all of these activities the sick sister learned how precious missionary work is, and how thankful she is to be a missionary. She has always had a love for being a missionary, but while she was sick she realized just how great its been to serve in Hesperia, she realized how blessed shes been to serve in such wonderful areas on her mission. She learned that even when its difficult and you just want to go out and serve, as you exercise patience you can still see the tender mercies all around! She realized that Gods hand is in everything. She saw his hand as multiple sister missionaries visited, or while they went on mini exchanges.
She saw his hand in the beautiful weather that is in Hesperia.
She also saw his hand as her companion took care of her as shes been sick.
This sick sister realized that you can be thankful for your trials because you can learn so much from them! This sick sister loves missionary work, and loves being a representative of Jesus Christ. She knows that God is always with us, and that he loves his children so very much. She knows that the worth of souls is great in the sight of God! She knows that even when you don't know what to do, that God has a plan, and that he is mindful of each of his children. This sick missionary is thankful for her Heavenly Father and the love he has for her and for all of his children. She is thankful for growth.

Among all of these things that this sick sister learned, she and her companion also had some laughs! One time the sick sister told her companion that she wanted so badly to go out and serve, so her healthy companion said that if she could do 15 jumping jacks, she could go out and do missionary work! So what does the sick sister do? She jumps up and starts doing jumping jacks, by number 3 she was about to fall over, but she got to number 9 and ran into the wall. This sick sister also realized how thankful she is for walls! They help her stand up straight!
This sick sister and her healthy companion also taught  youths Sunday school class at church, they taught about how the church that Christ established when he was on the earth has been restored! As they were teaching these youth, one of the boys who is age 12 had an ah-ha moment and yells out "If we didn't have the restoration of the gospel, we would all be like patric star from spongebob!" This made the sick sister laugh very hard. This sick sister is very thankful for the ability to laugh, even when shes sick.

All in all, this sick sisters body may be sick, but her spirit is healthy and well! She is thankful for the love and support of so many people. She loves them so very much and wishes that they have a great week.
                                    To be continued

Love y'all!
Love,
Sister Bond
